PRISON FELLOWSHIP

PRISON FELLOWSHIP

Prison is one of the most unbearable places to be. When one is in prison, they are separated from friends and relatives, They are stigmatised and most do not have anyone to visit them. The conditions in most prisons are not very pleasant. The people in prison yearn to be loved. They need hope and encouragement.

Without support from those out of prison, inmates live a horrible, hopeless life. There is a space in everyone for love and those in prison need it in abundance.

OUR INTERVENTION

“………. I was in prison and you came to me.” These are the words of Jesus in Matthew 25:36. This shows that Prison Fellowship is one of the main assignments given to us by our Lord Jesus. We provide necessary provisions to all the prisons in Harare and we fellowship with the inmates on a regular basis.

Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3.

MAXWELL GISI'S STORY

Maxwell Gisi was an inmate at Harare Central Prison. On one of our visits to the prison he was touched by the love that was displayed, and the quality of food that was distributed to the 2000+ inmates. On seeing this he requested to be received by the church on the date of his release.

When he was released, we went to receive him at the gate together with his family. He was given groceries and social support by the church. He is now running his own business and has vowed never to return to crime again.

BASIS OF OUR PRISON MINISTRY

I was naked and you clothed Me, I was sick and you visited Me, I was in prison and you came to Me. Then the righteous will answer Him, When did we see You a stranger and took You in……………………………………..Or when did we see You sick or in prison and came to You

And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. Matthew 25:36-40.
