Shamwari Yemwanasikana is a community-based organization that seeks to promote, protect and advance the rights and empowerment of the girl child in the home, school, and community, at the national level and beyond.
Their four key pillars of operation are: Sustainable Livelihoods, Child Protection, Sexual Reproductive Health Rights and Advocacy and Influence. Their programming falls in line with Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa’s advocacy and awareness work undertaken through the #GirlChildSheCan Campaign in support of the Girl Child.
Having been approached for assistance Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa went on partner with the organisation in a bid to help the girl child and young women within the community of Chitungwiza were the organization is located.
The programs team was assigned to make a donation of Sunscreens, Cooking Oil, Sugar, Rice, Flour, Sugar Beans, Laundry Soap, Mealie Meal, Blankets, Throws and Sanitary Ware for the Girls’ personal hygiene. This donation will provide significant assistance to girls and young women in times of need and crisis.
