AFC Donation to Bakorenhema Children’s Home

Tucked in the rural community of Marange in Manicaland Province 345 km east of Harare; Bakorenhema Children’s Home was established to cater for the Orphaned and Vulnerable children within the community. The institution was opened on the 21st of August 2001 as a Church Based Organization and registered with the Ministry of Social Welfare as a Private Voluntary Organization.

Unfortunately the Home has no reliable source in terms of donors therefore they depend on well-wishers. Due to the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown; the institution is facing more hardships in terms of food requirements and other resources for their daily upkeep. The running board of the institution approached Agape Family Care seeking food assistance for the children. This request was granted by Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa and she assigned her team to make an initial assessment of the institution. This assessment revealed other needs that the Agape Family Care team recognized. On the 18th of May the Agape Family Care Team travelled to Bakorenhema Children’s Home on a mission of love and compassion loaded with groceries, kitchenware, hygiene kits, clothing and footwear.

The donation was handed over to Mr Jonathan Katsidzira, Mrs Maureen Katsidzira and Mrs Gutuza who are currently running the institution. The donation included Mealie Meal, Cooking Oil, Sugar, Rice, Flour, Sugar Beans, Laundry Soap, Sanitary Ware, Laundry Dishes (90L), Buckets (20L), Sanitizing Buckets with Taps (20 L), Plates, Cups, Lunchboxes, Table Spoons, Pots, Wooden Spoons, Dishing Spoons, Forks, Clothing and Footwear. The donated goods will cater for the children who are resident at the home.
