AFC Supporting Families During COVID-19 Pandemic

As nations fight against the spread of Covid-19; we have also found ourselves as a nation under a period of lockdown. This has made our regular donations difficult as people usually gather at designated distribution points in order for them to receive their donations.

Agape Family Care Livelihoods Programme; has 1000s of targeted beneficiaries across the country including those that have their rentals and bills paid for them. Targeted families with children are also part of the Agape Family Care Scholarship Fund under the Education Program. The objective of the Livelihoods Program is to reduce poverty and inequality by empowering less privileged households and by moving highly vulnerable households into sustainable livelihoods and toward economic stability.

Through the Livelihoods Program; our beneficiaries are also recipients of Food Hampers, Hygiene Kits as well as Maize Grain. According to Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa our mandate is to ensure that less privileged and vulnerable families are well taken care of and they do not end up roaming the streets begging for money or food. With the current situation children are also required to stay at home to maintain social distancing therefore their nutritional and health needs have to be taken into consideration.

In our bid to reach out to our beneficiaries; the Agape Family Care staff has been engaging in door to door distribution of Food Hampers; Maize Grain and Hygiene Kits to the beneficiaries. Through this distribution exercise they have also taken that same opportunity to create awareness about Covid-19 as well as issues of hygiene, social distancing, and hand sanitizer usage. It is during this period where our beneficiaries need our intervention the most so they do not become more vulnerable or fall into depression. As per our mission we aim to spread love in every season!
