#ThePowerOfNo: AFC Empowering The Girl Child

Our girls are our Responsibility and our Future. Through the #GirlChildSheCan Campaign; Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa’s objective is to give Girls a voice so they can advocate for themselves; give girls hope of a better tomorrow and protect their dignity.

Launching the 2020 edition of the #GirlChildSheCan Campaign on the 12 of March 2020, themed; *THE POWER OF NO*, The Agape Family Care Team took the Girls through a transformational journey. Considering the backgrounds of the Girls Ruth Emmanuel-Makandiwa saw the need to give them a brighter and better perspective of the future they can create for themselves through an Empowerment Talk session with Mercy Hwenga who is a Trained Counsellor and Life Coach as she made the girls fully conscious of their Power to say No to Peer Pressure, Sexual Abuse, Drug Abuse, Child Marriage, Under valuing themselves as Girls and Gender Based Violence.

The Girls also received their personal Vision Boards before they were taken through an intensive and practical Vision Board workshop where they were trained to set their Goals. The Vision Board Goals covered included –Career Goals, Personal Goals, Financial Goals and Health Goals. The Girls were encouraged to create visions of their own future using the Vision Boards they had received.

The Girls were finally treated to a Donation of Sanitary Pads, Laundry Soap, Writing Books and School Satchels. The Institution also received half a ton of Maize Grain and Library Books.
