AFC Scholarship Beneficiary: Mutsa Shammar Gwatidzo

Being the only girl child in her family, Shammar, just like any other girl of her age, had dreams and was passionate about pursuing them. But her path to success became very difficult as she no longer had enough support to sustain her passion.

Things got really hard for my family when my father got extremely ill when I was in Grade 7 in 2011. My mum had to step in as the breadwinner and support my siblings, my father and I. Things got really difficult for us as a family as my father’s medicine was expensive and we were advancing in our education.

But by the grace of God I passed my exams with flying colors and I obtained 15 points.

My prospects of going to my dream university were dim as the finances were tight because my siblings and my extended family were all dependent on my mother. I learnt of Agape Family Care and I applied, hoping and praying for a miracle.

I got the scholarship in 2018 and my life took a turn for the better. The pressure at home is less because my education has been taken care of. I have less pressure in terms of my studies because I don’t need to worry where my fees for next semester are going to come from.

To all the people working tirelessly at the Agape Foundation, you all have my heartfelt appreciation. Thank you for letting God use you in such a mighty way. May the Lord Bless you for all the work you have done. To Prophet and Prophetess Makandiwa words cannot begin to express how honored I am at your humility, care and love.

Your works speak of love and you are a demonstration of the love of God which looks out for the weak and helpless. May God reward you for all your hard work! May He restore tenfold from where you have taken. May Goodness and mercy follow you all the days of your life! May generations after you be blessed because of this single gesture of love that you have shown. Thank you so much once more.

Shammar is currently enrolled at the University of Zimbabwe and she is studying Law.
