Zimbabwe Prison and Correctional Services and Agape Family has a partnership that spans a period of over 6 years. Over the years, AFC has partnered in the following ways:
- Donation of materials for uniforms
- Food donations
- Sinking of a 40m borehole, submersible pump and water tank
- Hosting of feeding programmes
Even after doing all this, the Chairperson of Agape Family Care felt that there was a need for more fellowship with the inmates themselves. Based on Matthew 25:26, the Chairperson mandated AFC to launch the Prison Fellowship program where they will be interacting with the inmates on a personal basis.
Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. Hebrews 13:3.
On the 21st of March, the AFC team led by Mrs Belinda Kwaramba launched the Prison Fellowship campaign. The campaign was launched at Chikurubi Female Prison, Chikurubi Maximum Prison and Kentucky Prison. The fellowship was very much welcomed by the inmates who confessed the need for continuous fellowship. AFC staff was overwhelmed by the inmates as each one of them wanted to have a minute to chat with the team members
The fellowship reached out to 170 female prisoners at Chikurubi Female Prison, 2600 male inmates at Chikurubi Maximum Prison and 168 inmates at Kentucky Prison.
